Frequently Asked Questions
1> What is FileVault?
FileVault is a web application solution that allows users to exchange, store and transfer files of any size or type, limited only by the bandwidth available on their Internet connection (and their patience).
2> What can I use FileVault for?
You can use FileVault for transfering files (documents, images, zips, drawings etc) as well as allowing others access to your files if you wish. With computer viruses at an all time high you can use FileVault to back up critical files, programmes and documents. Protect yourself and your company from embarrassing data loss.
Share files with clients, colleagues, friends and family through password protected user areas that you can set up at a moments notice.
3> What can FileVault do for me?
Use FileVault as an "Off-site" storage for document back-ups.
4> Why do I need FileVault?
FileVault is ideal for those who need to exchange large files (too large to email) on a regular basis as well as those needing "off-site storage." Students often find it useful for transferring work between home and college.
5> How is FileVault more secure than email?
Emails pass through numerous computer systems each of which is a potential risk to "snooping" and blocking. Protect sensitive information with this file transfer solution. [If security is extremely important to you, then please enquire about utilising an SSL certificate, or ask for further advice regarding your specific requirement].
6> Why shouldn't I use email to send files?
Emails with large file attachments often time out or get blocked. Using FileVault to transfer files makes it much more likely that the file(s) are reliably transferred from A to B.
7> How much does it cost?
Please see the Ordering Filevault page, which can be found here.
8> Can I customize FileVault?
Each client has the ability to add, modify and delete users and control what users have access to. If you would like your FileVault matched to your corporate design, or to match an existing website, then please enquire for pricing.
10> Is there a limit to the amount of files I can transfer or store?
Each client purchases a set amount of storage space and bandwidth. If you use more than this, then extra charges will apply
11> What files can I use with FileVault?
You can transfer or store any type of file that can be uploaded/downloaded through a browser.
13> Is there a limit to the number of users that I can create accounts for?
There is no limit to the amount of users that you can create accounts for, although if you have an application in mind that is likely to need more than fifty, please contact us for advice regarding management of the accounts.
14> Are there individual password protected areas?
You can easily control and configure user rights and features for each folder created via the control panel.
